Strategic DevelopmentThe working group on strategic development (formerly named Strategic Enforcement) aims at contributing to the effective implementation by equality bodies of their mandate through analysing and evaluating the most strategic use of the diverse powers available to equality bodies. This working group is Equinet's permanent platform for staff members of equality bodies that are concerned with strategic issues and planning to exchange experience and share expertise. This objective is fulfilled by focusing on some of the specific roles and prerogatives of the specialised equality bodies including the ones listed in the EC directives (assistance to victims, conducting surveys, issuing reports and recommendations) and by converging those powers to the bodies that go beyond individual enforcement. The Working Group seeks to explore which tools are available and which are most effective, the criteria for selecting and deploying a particular power, the experience on using these tools and powers, the ability to foresee and to tackle any problems or issues arising and the challenge of using limited resources in a context of unlimited demand. The Working Group identifies strategies for the full enforcement of equal treatment legislation, for the effective application of the available powers at the specialised equality bodies’ level and for the development of specific tools and further actions. |
