Apply for funding to attend equality conference in Dublin on 23rd June

April 20th 2010

Support for delegates from Equinet member organisations

The Equality Authority will pay for travel and accommodation costs for ten delegates from Equinet member organisations to attend the conference on "Making Equality Count: Irish and International Approaches to Measuring Equality and Discrimination" in Dublin on 23rd June.

This Research Conference is being jointly organised by the Equality Authority, the Economic and Social Research Institute (Dublin), the University College Dublin Geary Institute and the Irish Central Statistics Office and is being co-funded by the European Union under the PROGRESS Programme, 2007-2013. It will be of particular interest to academics, policymakers, statisticians and equality bodies from Ireland and also from other EU countries. The language of the conference will be English. Further conference details are included below.

To apply for funding to attend this conference as an EQUINET delegate, you must submit the attached application form by email to by 5.00pm (Irish time) on Wednesday 28 April 2010. Please ensure that you save the completed form as a Word 1997/2003 file, and include the words "Making Equality Count" in the subject line.

Please note that Equality Authority will only consider one application per member organisation. If the number of applications at the closing date is more than the number of places available, the places will be allocated by a random draw. In this case, the Equality Authority will apply a maximum of one funded offer per country (so, if there are two EQUINET member organisations in a member state, both cannot get funding for a delegate each). All applicants will be notified of the outcome by e-mail, by close of business on Friday 30 April 2010.

In respect of the ten successful applicants for support the Authority will:
- reimburse delegates’ flights up to a maximum of 350 EUR, unless prior booking authorization has been granted for a more expensive ticket;
- reimburse accommodation costs two nights - up to a maximum of 150 EUR per person per night;
- reimburse a limited amount of other per diem costs (such as local transport, etc.).

Reimbursements will only be possible when an original reimbursement form has been correctly filled in and submitted with the required documentation. Any undocumented expense will be disregarded. The successful applicants will be advised of the detailed reimbursement requirements.
