Save the date: 6 November 2012 - Assessing the impact of austerity plans on the rights of people with disabilities

The launch event of the study on “Assessing the impact of European Governments’ austerity plans on the rights of people with disabilities” will take place on Tuesday, November 6, from 17:00 to 18:30 in the EU Parliament, Brussels (room to be confirmed)
The European Foundation Centre Consortium on Human Rights and Disability will host an event focusing on the impact that the austerity measures undertaken by several European Governments might have on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The event will include the following speakers:

- László Andor, (Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion) will deliver the keynote address.

- Rosa Estarás Ferragut, (Member of the EU Parliament), will lead the debate on how to tackle social exclusion according to EU 2020 strategy for inlcusion of all European citizens.

- Yannis Vardakastanis, (President of the European Disability Forum) and Miguel Ángel Cabra de Luna, (Co-chair of the The European Foundation Centre Consortium on Human Rights and Disability) will focus on the topic of developing cost-effective policies of inclusion with concrete measures.
