The training was organised by Equinet and hosted at the Dublin Castle by the Equinet Irish Member (the Equality Authority). During the event, participants had the possibility to exchange strategies in relation to raising public awareness on equal rights and to providing tools for combating discrimination.

From the experience of national equality bodies, the most important obstacles in achieving full equality for all is the low level of knowledge of rights and the absence of culture with regard to them.

The training therefore had three main goals:

  1. Exchange NEBs’ experiences and good practices in providing information on rights
  2. Try to understand and examine the needs of vulnerable groups in relation to information provision and effective ways of communication
  3. Work out the strategies in collaboration with other stakeholders active in the field of equality

Mutual learning and sharing experiences from and between national equality bodies with others were among the core subjects addressed during the training, together with the issue of horizontal and transversal perspective on different grounds of discrimination.
