On 8 February 2010, Mrs Christine Lüders has been appointed head of the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency (FADA) by the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. The Institute for Equality between Men and Women recently commissioned a study on the social and judicial status of transgender persons in Belgium. The Belgian equality body will unveil the results of this study at the seminar taking place on 20 November 2009 in Brussels. The French equality body produced a series of 10 short videos which portray everyday life situations and how discrimination can affect someone' s life. The 'Flagrants délits' short movies, which are based on real life claims, are currently broadcasted on France3, a French national TV channel. The judgment in the Feryn case issued by the Labour Court of Brussels (Belgium) represents an important development for the work of equality bodies and the fight of discrimination with regards to access to the labour market. The Advisory Committee on equal opportunities for women and men adopted two opinions; one on the gender pay gap and the other on the differential impact of the economic and financial crisis on women and men.
