Conference on Positive Action MeasuresThe European Commission - in collaboration with the Centre for Inclusion and Diversity of the University of Bradford - is organising a one-day conference in Brussels to present the findings of a survey that explores the international perspective on positive action measures. The European Commission funded PAMECUS research study is intended to better understand the role that positive action measures can play in the work place in order to prevent or remedy discrimination. It seeks to establish how policies, practices and mechanisms for evaluating the impact of the measures differ between Member States in the European Union, and how these compare with Canada, the United States and South Africa. Equinet - the European network of equality bodies and a member of the PAMECUS steering committee - will participate to this conference, thus emphasizing the importance of equality bodies in creating a framework of understanding of positive actions.
