Proposed new anti-discrimination Directive gets backing of the EP Civil Liberties Committee
The directive aiming to guarantee equal treatment beyond the labour market was backed on Monday 16th March by the EP Civil Liberties Committee, which particularly highlighted the need to tackle multiple discrimination. The proposed Directive covers protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation, age, disability, religion and belief with regard to access to social protection (including social security), goods and services (including housing), health care and education. All these goals were reaffirmed by members of the Civil Liberties Committee when they adopted a consultation report by Kathalijne Buitenweg (Greens/EFA, NL). Read here the EP Press release |
