Dirk De Meirleir, founding member of Equinet, joins the International Lesbian and Gay Association - Europe as their new Executive Director
Dirk De Meirleir, founding member of Equinet, joins the International Lesbian and Gay Association - Europe as their new Executive Director. At the end of January 2009, Dirk De Meirleir will take up the position of new Executive Director of ILGA-Europe (International Lesbian and Gay Association - Europe). As part of the Belgian Centre for Equal Opportunities and Opposition to Racism, where he worked for the last 10 years, Dirk has been a founding member of EQUINET – European Network of Equality Bodies. As a result of his new position at ILGA-Europe, Dirk resigns from his current position as a Member of the Executive Board and Treasurer for EQUINET. The Board, Members and Secretariat of EQUINET thank Dirk for his invaluable contribution over the years setting up EQUINET as an established European Network and for his commitment to the mission of national equality bodies across Europe. We wish him every success and fruitful work with ILGA-Europe whilst pursuing our collaboration against all forms of discrimination and towards making Europe a place of equal opportunities for all.
