Jeannette Bougrab appointed head of HALDE

President Sarkozy has appointed Jeanette Bougrab as Head of the French equality body, Halde (Haute Autorité de lutte contre les discriminations et pour l'égalité).

Ms Bougrab succeeds to Louis Schweitzer, whose mandate ended in March 2010.

Aged 36, Ms Bougrab has been an associate professor of law at Sorbonne University, before being nominated as member of France's Council of State in 2007. She also ran in the electorates in 2007 for UMP, the centre-right political party.
