An important step towards the development of the next EU Roadmap for equality between women and men has been made with the adoption of the Figueiredo's report,
On 17 June 2010, an important step towards the development of the next EU Roadmap for equality between women and men has been made. The European Parliament has adopted the report drafted by rapporteur Ilda Figueiredo (GUE/NGL, Portugal). The report assesses the results of the European Union’s 2006-2010 Roadmap for equality between women and men and provides some forward looking recommendations. The report represents a valuable contribution to the discussions and work on the next strategy for equality between women and men. In particular, it calls for: The report also acknowledges the need for a wide-ranging survey to be conducted using a common methodology and involving all the EU countries to map the extent of the issue. Finally, Figueiredo’s report stresses the importance of pursuing of the dialogue with civil societies and the promotion of the dissemination and exchange of good practice with regard to gender equality policies by the Commission and the Member States.
